We are pleased to invite you to the first part of Inversions. This series of exhibitions and events is devoted to the global scope of Aby Warburg’s research, which has lost none of its significance today. Regularly contemporary artists from around the world will be invited to produce new work based on their own very specific response to Warburg’s methods and interests as well as to the history and architecture of his well-known building at Heilwigstrasse 116.

In summer 2018 Lucy Raven (* 1977, Tucson, USA, lives and works in New York City) will create a site-specific moving image installation in the oval Reading and Lecture Room. On the evening of June 7, Raven will present a new illustrated lecture in the library. The event will be accompanied by the launch of a new artist’s book, also titled A Ghost Story for Adults.

This project is curated by Rebekka Seubert (artist and free-lance curator) & Petra Lange-Berndt (chair for modern and contemporary art, Kunsthistorisches Seminar, Universität Hamburg).
